Introduction
Urmston Grammar School is a selective mixed academy in Urmston, Manchester. The school’s motto is “Manners Makyth Man”, with the school not just taking a surface reading of being nice to people, but rather that an individual is defined by how they treat others. Of the GCSE students, 91% scored a 5+ in Maths and English, almost 30% higher than the local average and over double the national average. The Urmston Grammar School Entry Exam: Overview
Urmston Grammar School’s 11 Plus entry exam consists of two CEM papers. Testing; Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Mathematics. Each paper is one hour long, there will be a short break between the papers.

Extry Exam: Pass Criteria
A score of 334 in the entrance exam is required in order to be considered for a place at Urmston Grammar School. The top 20 scorers in the entry exam will be admitted regardless of home residence.

Applicants living within postcodes M41 and M31 will be awarded places based on distance from the school to their home address. Then all other applicants will be awarded places based on distance from the school to their home address.
Additional eligibilities
Applicants who qualify for any of the following will be admitted regardless of home residence and will be given the greatest priority for places.
- “Looked After Children”
- “Pupil Premium” – 10 places awarded to the highest performers in the entry exam.
- Children of members of staff who have served in the school for a consecutive period of at least 8 years.
