Introduction
Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School Alford is a mixed, selective grammar school in Alford, Lincolnshire.
At Queen’s Alford they place a heavy emphasis on mutual respect, which is best demonstrated in the staff’s determination to know every student individually, something that is often more difficult in bigger schools. Queen’s Alford was once a Business and Enterprise College, and they have carried much of that history with them, encouraging students to be enterprising and aiding them in future enterprises by using the school’s links to the business world effectively. Students are even encouraged to set up their own businesses within the school, and the school supplies a venture fund to support them in this endeavour. The Ofsted inspection in 2021 rated the school as “Good”, stating that the school is good in all major categories. According to this inspection the students are enthusiastic about their school and say that it is friendly. Teachers’ knowledge and teaching methods are strong.
