Introduction

Courage, honour, responsibility, perseverance, humility, and friendship. These are the words that first greet you on King’s School Grantham’s homepage and they are core values that King’s intends to teach to all of its students. King’s School Grantham is a selective academy for boys, offers a wide range of options, both academic and extracurricular. Some of the more unique options such as the close ties with the cadets are not seen in many other schools.

For 2019 King’s scored well in its Progress 8 score of 0.46, which is above average. 84% of students who attend King’s Grantham achieve 5+ in Maths and English, which is double that of the national and local average. The Attainment 8 score for King’s Grantham is almost 20 points higher than the local or national average.

Due to the selective nature of the school, entry can be difficult and often applicants will require tutorship in order to be able to meet the pass mark. This is why 11 Hero Plus was made, to be a great, easy to use, resource that is accessible to everyone. We have collated all of the relevant information for King’s School Grantham right here so that you don’t have to waste time finding out every little detail. King’s School Grantham Exam Format

The King’s School Grantham selects students using the GL 11 Plus exam board. The entry exam is the same as all schools in the Lincolnshire Grammar Schools Consortium. This common exam consists of two tests, the first test is on Verbal Reasoning, while the second test is on Non-Verbal Reasoning. The tests are multiple choice papers and there will be practice questions before each test starts so as to give the children an idea of how to answer questions. The pass criteria is based on the Lincolnshire Grammar Schools Consortium standardised score of 220.

King’s School Grantham GL 11 Plus Test: Pass Criteria

The Lincolnshire Grammar Schools Consortium uses a standardised score of 220 to determine whether applicants can be allocated places. This 220 score is a modified version of the raw scores in both tests added together. The pass criteria demonstrates that children who pass are within the top 25% of children their age in academic ability. Should there be oversubscription despite the pass mark required then applicants will be ordered by merit and places awarded to the highest achievers.

  • Pupil Premium: The top 20 applicants who achieve the qualifying score will be accepted, the rest will be slotted back into order of merit.

220 after standardisation. This is the combined score of both papers after adjustments are made due to age and other factors. The raw score achieved in a test is a good indicator but not necessarily the same as the standardised score.

The King’s School Grantham selects students based on a GL test on Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning that is common to all schools in the Lincolnshire Grammar Schools Consortium. The exam is split into two tests on two separate dates, the first test is on Verbal Reasoning, and the second is on Non-Verbal Reasoning.
