Introduction
Haberdashers’ Adams School was founded almost 400 years ago. It is a selective school, and for most it is free. It still allows for boarding and is very proud of it, as with all boarding this has costs. Haberdashers’ is proud of its traditions, while also being able to adapt to new ideas and technologies. The teachers at Haberdashers’ Adams School are encouraged to teach in their own way, allowing for a wide variety of different teaching practices displayed from teacher to teacher. From the traditional teaching in front of a whiteboard and textbook, to taking studies outside and recreating historic moments, it is believed that this altering of methodology will make a greater impact on the children’s minds. This is often paired with increased use of recent technology in the classrooms. Haberdashers’ Adams School has a house system that is central to the school, there are numerous house competitions ranging from cross country, to drama, to swimming, to rugby. These house competitions are designed to instil comradery and a competitive spirit while still being friendly and pleasant, so as to lead to bonds between unlikely friends that can last entire lives.

Haberdashers' Adams School Exam Format
Haberdashers’ Adams School selects its students based on the entry exams common to all the schools in the Consortium of Grammar Schools in Shropshire, Walsall and Wolverhampton. This common exam is a CEM exam, consisting of two papers, testing Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Mathematics. Places are awarded in order of highest score achieved in the exam, instead of using a pass mark. Haberdashers’ Adams School prioritises students from certain Primary Schools.

As with all schools in the Consortium of Grammar Schools in Shropshire, Walsall and Wolverhampton, the 11 Plus entry exam for Haberdashers’ Adams School’s is a CEM 11 Plus exam. This exam can be taken in order to enter any of the schools in the consortium. The exam is 2 tests, each 50 minutes long, and testing your child’s ability in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Maths.
