Pass Mark

The GL 11 Plus Kent Test: Pass Criteria

Your son’s score in the Kent Test is calculated by combining the results in the multiple choice papers and statistically standardising them including a small adjustment for the age of students. This is common practice to prevent the older boys in a year group from having an advantage from their potential extra year of development. This combined or aggregated score is then compared to a threshold pass mark which must be overcome for a child to be deemed selective. The threshold is decided upon by analysing all of the test results for that school year and so it cannot be quoted beforehand. More information nad examples of thresholds from previous years can be found in the centralised article ‘Selective Tests in Kent – The Kent Test’. Worth noting for Wilmington Grammar School for Boys is that the top 10% of scoring applicants in the Kent Test will be awarded Governors Places and qualify for priority admission.
