Introduction
Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys is a selective grammar school in Kent with single sex admissions through years 7-11 with girls joining in the sixth form. Whilst operating as one unified school with a single point of entry the institution is across two sites, one in Tunbridge Wells and an annex in Sevenoaks. Overall the school is ranked as Good by Ofstead with inspectors commenting on the positive environment of the school ‘Pupils are enthusiastic learners. They try hard, think for themselves and enjoy working with others to tackle challenging problems. As a result, pupils love coming to school and achieving well’. There are numerous opportunities for students to become involved with the community and organisation of the school and in doing so develop their leadership and responsibility. Main school and sixth form have councils with elected representatives from all years. A team of school prefects and house captains oversee both academic and extracurricular activities including raising money for charities, most recently the youth mental health organisation YoungMinds. As well as the traditional sports, music and arts societies Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys also supports debating society, young enterprise and the model United Nations.

There is no set passing marks or percentage of marks which holds true every year for the Kent Test. Instead the threshold is determined on a yearly basis depending on the results of all students in the cohort. It is estimated that the top ~25% of students will reach this threshold for admission. Scores in the Kent Test are calculated by adding the results of the two multiple choice examinations and statistically standardising including an adjustment for the age of a particular child to create a single aggregate score. This score is compared to the determined threshold. Catchment Area
Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys operates a priority catchment area including any child who permanently lives either within three miles of the school or else in a number of named parishes. Priority of admission is given to those boys who have passed the Kent Test and who live the closest to the school as determined by the National Land and Property Gazetteer address point data.

Additional Eligibility
Where there is either a health, special access or social reason that it would be especially beneficial for a students wellbeing that they be admitted to Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys that student may qualify for priority of admission. Regardless itis still a requirement that they have passed the selective entrance examination The Kent Test.
- Those boys who have a Education, Health and Care Plan which specifically mentions Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys will be admitted.
- Boys who either at the time of admission or previously were in the care of the local authority will be admitted with priority.
- Those boys who have a sibling already in attendance of the school, whether a brother in the main school or a brother or sister in the sixth form, will be admitted with priority.
- Boys who have a special health, access or otherwise reason that would make admission especially beneficial, especially if that need is outlined in the Equality Act 2010, may qualify for priority admission. If applying under this clause then the application must be supported by written evidence from a professional medical or otherwise practitioner.
