Introduction

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys is a selective academy for boys in Altrincham, Cheshire. The primary aim for Altrincham Grammar School for Boys is to equip their students with the skills to contribute to society long after they have left the school. Tolerance and respect play forefront to the ideals that Altrincham Grammar School for Boys subscribes to, and believe that they are paramount for a functioning school. Altrincham Grammar School for Boys Exam Format

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys’ 11 Plus entry exam is provided by CEM and is common to all of the grammar schools in the  Trafford Grammar Schools CEM Consortium (“TGSCC”).

The Altrincham Grammar School for Boys Entry Exam: Overview

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys uses CEM exams for their entry exams. There will be two tests in the entry exam, these tests will be on the same day and each will be an hour long. The entry exam will test Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Mathematics. There will be a short rest between the tests and it is advised that you have brought your own snacks as none will be provided. 

- Two papers

- Questions on Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Mathematics

- Each paper is 1 hour

Additional eligibilities

Whenever there is oversubscription within a category places will be allocated in rank order of marks achieved in the entry exam. 

  • “Looked After Children” and previously Looked After Children who achieve a mark of 324 will be awarded a place. 
  • “Pupil Premium” – Up to 20 applicants who are eligible for “Pupil Premium” who achieve a mark between 324-333 and who’s home address lies within the postal addresses of WA13/WA14/WA15/M33 and M23 postcodes which lie within the Trafford Local Authority. 
  • “Pupil Premium” – applicants who achieve a mark of 334 or above will be offered places.
