Introduction

Loreto Grammar School is a selective Roman Catholic academy for girls in Altrincham, Cheshire. Loreto Grammar School recently celebrated its 410th anniversary, and being such an old school it is a community rooted in tradition. Loreto Grammar School is part of a worldwide network of over 120 schools, and has strong links with many of them. The headteacher says that Loreto Grammar School is a place to nurture young Catholic women so that they might become the world leaders of tomorrow and make the world a better place. Loreto Grammar School’s core values are Freedom, Sincerity, Excellence, Truth, Joy, Justice, and Internationality. They aspire to inspire the girls to be their best selves and achieve great things, pushing them to the limits of their potential. There are three main questions that they want their girls to be able to answer, “Who am I?”, “Who do I want to become?”, “How do I get there?”.

Loreto Grammar School Exam Format

Loreto Grammar School’s 11 Plus entry exam consists of 2 GL papers in Verbal Reasoning and English, and one Maths paper devised by the school. The exams will all be on the same day and there will be breaks between them. Your child should bring a HB pencil, eraser and ruler, no calculators allowed. You should also bring a snack (must not contain nuts) and a drink in clear wrapping (i.e. a small plastic bag) for the breaks between the tests.

The Loreto Grammar School Entry Exam: Overview

The 11 Plus entry exam for Loreto Grammar School is made up of 3 papers. 2 of them are closed GL papers, one is a 50 minute Verbal Reasoning paper, and the other is a 45 minute English paper. The final paper is a Maths paper made by the school and will take 45 minutes. The order that these papers will be taken in is not known.
