Introduction
Lawrence Sheriff School is a selective academy for boys in Rugby Warwickshire. The primary ethos of Lawrence Sheriff School is that all of their students and staff are happy to be there, and they see it as the headteacher’s primary directive. They plan on achieving this by making a concerted effort to listen to their students and make them feel valued and respected. The school recognises that a primary component in making students happy is to keep them busy and appropriately challenged. Lawrence Sheriff School uses a vertical tutoring system where tutor groups are made up equally of students from every year group, and they attribute this as one of the main reasons for the success of their school. The school has a student council that they claim holds them somewhat accountable so that they might listen to the wishes of the students, however sometimes they are ignored. It is clear though that the student council are at least heard for their opinions.
