Pass Mark
While there will be a set qualifying score, it is designed to be deliberately low to allow for “Looked After Children” and “Pupil Premium” students (see Additional Eligibilities), and should not be used as a target for success. Places will be awarded to the students who achieve the highest mark in the entry exam until all places have been filled.

Additional Eligibility
Looked After Children: places will be awarded to “Looked After Children” if they achieve the qualifying score regardless of their placement in order of merit in the entry exam.
Pupil Premium: The top 25 “Pupil Premium” students will be awarded a place, the remaining Pupil Premium students will be slotted back into merit order and considered as normal.
Wolverhampton Girls’ High School FAQs
While there is a qualifying score, this is not the same as a pass mark. It is used almost exclusively for eligibility for “Pupil Premium” students and “Looked After Children”. As such it should not be considered at all for any other students as it is deliberately lower than what will actually be required to get a place in this competitive entry exam. Instead places are awarded to those achieving the highest marks in the CEM 11 Plus entry exam.
Wolverhampton Girls’ High School uses the CEM 11 Plus exam format common to a lot of schools. They specifically use the Verbal, Non-Verbal, and Maths aspects of these exams in their entry exam. This entry exam is common to all schools in the Consortium of Grammar Schools in Shropshire, Walsall and Wolverhampton (link to consortium page), and so can be used to apply to any number of them while only having to sit a single exam.
Wolverhampton Girls’ High School has practice material in their Familiarisation Portal on their website.
